Judy came to Gold Beach to vacation and visit her sister for a month this past summer. She wanted to continue her painting classes that we started last year. Judy loves art; it’s that simple. In her very busy lifetime, she never had the opportunity or time to paint. Her goals are to learn to handle the mediums and start to paint on her own.
Here Judy is on location where Lobster Creek meets the Rogue River.
Judy had been somewhat tentative with the paint up until this morning when she “just went for it”. After dunking her white paper in the river she spread fast and furious washes of blue and red paint. After it dried the rocks were added and she decided to use her creative license to change it to a sea scene! It’s a nice horizontal painting with a good mood and clear transparent colors.
Back in the studio we started experimenting with collage and watercolor. Judy’s mountain was the result. What a fun painting!
One session was devoted to learning to make monotypes. In the picture Judy is holding the plate and the print she created.
Here’s the plate:
And here’s the print:
Both of these are worthy of framing. Hope to paint with you again next summer Judy!
